Services

Brushing

A thorough body brush to loosen any dead fur and undercoat. This is also necessary to get rid of any knots before being bathed as knots get tighter if wet. We have the appropriate equipment to get rid of knots and dead lose hair without hurting the dogs.

Washing

The dogs are bathed in our fully fitted human bath with a geyser – so warm water washing – with vet’s recommended shampoo.

Towel Dry

The dogs are towel dried to remove as much water as possible before starting the blow-drying process. The client supplies the towels as we do not share towels for hygiene reasons. The more we can towel dry the dogs the better because it’s the blow dryer that dogs are generally nervous of (the noise). When dogs are extremely nervous about the blow dryer, we use a headband over their ears to deaden the noise.

Blow Dry

Industrial pet dryer ensures your dog is warm and happy during the blow-drying process. The dogs are brushed whilst being dried with a handheld professional dog “hair dryer” to remove any further loose hair. (No cage drying in our mobile parlours; only one-on-one attention)

Hair Cut or Scissor Trimmed

Dogs who require their fur to be cut will be professionally clipped and scissor trimmed according to their breed specification and owners’ preference, or to the time of year.

Nails & Paws

On each visit the dogs’ nails will be checked and trimmed if necessary. Often the kwick of the nails grow as long as the nails and the nail will bleed if trimmed short. Groomers can only trim off the dead bits that grow beyond the kwick. The dogs’ nail structure determines what can be safely trimmed.

Teeth (if required)

We brush teeth using malt-flavoured toothpaste formulated especially for dogs for the prevention of mouth and gum diseases, and in the treatment for bad breath. We require you to supply the toothbrush for hygiene reasons.

Tick & Flea DiP (if requested)

Bayticol dip is applied from neck to tail to protect your pets against tick and flea infested diseases. We dip in the summer months when parasites are around but is not necessary in winter, unless requested. It is recommended to dip at regular intervals according to the tick and flea challenge.

Anal Glands (if requested)

Our groomers are trained to manually express dogs’ anal glands. Not all dogs require squeezing of their anal glands. In some cases, a dog’s anal glands can become impacted leading to discomfort, pain, or other health issues. Signs of anal gland problems include scooting their rear end on the ground, excessive licking or biting of the anal area, or discomfort while defecating. If you suspect that your dog is having regular anal gland issues, it’s best to consult your vet who can provide appropriate treatment.

Personal Shampoo (if required)

If your dog has a skin condition, we will use your specially medicated shampoo for washing as per the instructions received by your vet.
